What You Talkin’ ‘Bout Willis?

While speaking this way to a Jackson or Drummond might be funny, probably not the best or most recommended way to speak to Jesus. Just sayin'...

I know, I know. I watch too many re-runs of “nostalgic” television…

Anyhoo, has anyone been hearing from God lately? Seems like when you need Him to speak the most, He is ever most silent. Not true though. Most people want to hear an audible voice so bad, that they miss out on the little things that God is trying to tell them. Then others just hear what they want to hear. If it’s not the answer they want, they didn’t “really” get an answer now did they?… hmmm

The Bible is God’s word; His life plans laid out for us to follow. He leaves visible answers to prayers for us everyday. It’s all in how you look at life and the situations that are given to us.
Which brings to mind a real life story of a boy, who was in an automobile accident. He received severe head trauma and such in this wreck. As he underwent several test, scans showed that he had large tumors on his brain that were life threatening. Since all of his test were done at a large children’s hospital, he was able to receive the immediate medical attention that he needed, so that he could have a full recovery. If the wreck had not happened, would he have been able to have that full recovery? Only God knows. But this accident was a blessing in disguise. It’s all how you look at it.
When Jesus told the leper to dip in the water 7 times, I can see him now saying, “say what? Did He just tell me to dip in the river?” It’s hard to believe that something so simple, could change your entire life. It’s like an “I could’ve had a V8” moment.
When God speaks, whether it’s audible, written, visible, or just the still small voice in your spirit man, don’t be surprised if it makes no sense whatsoever! You have to keep in mind that His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. The wreck mentioned above, could be looked at as a sad situation, but God turned it around for the good of that family.
So if God gives you an answer that is unconventional, don’t say, “What You talkin’ ’bout God?” Just go with it. It’s for your own good! =)

Blessed

In today’s economy, it’s very easy to be discouraged about our financial woes. To think about the needs, the wants, and wishes…

Picture this, Sicily, 1923…. Just Joking (for those of you who get this! 🙂 )

Sophia Petrillo AKA: Karen

You take your children into your local department store, mall, etc, and hear a chorus of “Can I get this?”, “Can I have one of those?”, “When can I get one?”, “That’s not fair; Why does everyone else get one?” Can’t you just hear it now? From a young age, I have tried to teach my children that we can not keep up with the Jones’. God made us the Wilds and we have a hard enough time keeping up with ourselves!

God has been the One to carry us through our good times and bad times. My husband and I have been married 14 and a half years, and if it had not been for God’s guidance, who knows where we would be right now. We are not financially set by any means. We are actually late on a few bills. But we do not lean on any person or thing to get us through. David works 2 jobs to take care of our 4 children and ourselves. We do not have government help. (If you can get it, go for it, but I believe it will be non-existant before too long, but that’s another story for another time.) We only have God to rely on! We are not spoiled. My children are not spoiled. We are blessed!

You ask, “how can I call myself “blessed” when I don’t know where the money will be coming from to make my next house or car payment, or to pay the next high electricity bill?” Well, you’re reading this right now, so that means God woke you up and you still have breath in you! Most of you do get at least 3 meals a day. That is a huge blessing compared to knowing that there are those out there who haven’t eaten in days.

The Bible tells us in Matthew 6:28-34:

“And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall He not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”

God knows every little thing that we have need of! He is Jehovah Jireh – my Provider! Seek Him first. He says right here in His word, for us not to dwell on our needs, but to have faith that He will meet them. Thank You, God, for Your blessings on me!

Satan would try to make us doubt and bring fear into our lives, but he was defeated long ago. Do not fear whether or not you will make it. Our lives are in Gods hands!

So until next time, may God lead you and guide you, and reign Himself on you!

A daughter of the Most High King,

Time Marches On

As our children go back to school all across the United States, the phrase that we hear countless times:

“I can’t believe he/she is old enough to be…”

Yes, it’s true. Believe it. My children have grown up right in front of my eyes and I ask myself:

“Where has the time gone?”

But the Bible tells us that ‘Life is like a vapor’. For an example: Get a spray bottle or aerosol can and spray it one time. The vapor disperses immediately. That is what our lives are like! No time at all.

Hmm... Now you have an idea for a project with all of those old cans of Aqua-Net & Rave you just can't part with, don't you?

Don’t let time pass you by without slowing down to enjoy it. Life is busy. As we rush our children to football practice, dance class, basketball, then go to PTO meetings ourselves in addition to all the church activities, and grab a bite to eat in between, take time to breath. To watch your children grow. To fit Gods’ word in to them, so that your whole family can have a measure of peace without the chaos. The perfect mother does not exist. I for one, can never measure up to the example of Proverbs 31, but it’s O.K. to strive for that sense of rightness. God wants to go right along their with us. Don’t leave Him behind or out of the equation.

And don’t blink. For tomorrow, your school age child will be grown with a family of their own.

Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.
