When you give someone a gift, what condition is your heart in while giving it? How much time did you put into picking out just the right thing? I love to give gifts. Always have. I love the joy in picking something out and love to see reactions in receiving.
Here are just a few suggestions in gift giving, that I always try to follow. (The one time I didn’t follow my own heart, the gifts got ‘thrown away’ on purpose and it was because I didn’t have time to go to the store and get what I really wanted to give. Next time, I’ll just wait until I can go get it.)
- Never give anyone a gift that you would not give to yourself, unless it’s specifically asked for. (What goes around, comes around.)
- When buying a gift for someone else’s child, do not get them something that you would not buy for your own child. Again, unless it has been specifically asked for.
- Gift cards are always a great idea for those “hard to buy for folks. You can get one for just about any store. Even McDonalds has gift certificates.
- With money tight, baked goods and candies are always a great idea.
Some people are now giving gag gifts to each other in oppose to real gifts, or not giving gifts at all. And as always, it’s the thought that counts as long as the thought isn’t to give begrudgingly.
The greatest gift was given over 2000 years ago. It’s the gift that keeps on giving. We wouldn’t even have Christmas if it wasn’t for Jesus Christ.
That is one Gift that I gladly received!
