Everyday Stranger

I am the one who just walked by you
But you didn’t notice me.
Laughing and joking with your friends,
Pretending to be free.

I am the one who was behind you
At the local grocery store,
Buying things in abundance and greed,
Never thinking of the poor.

I am the one who was on the corner
Everyday Stranger - Raising Sticky Hands To HeavenHanding out the tracks.
You tossed yours in the waste basket
And never once looked back.

I am the one who found you
On the cold, hard bathroom floor.
After a mix of “who knows what”,
You’d fallen against the door.

I’m the one who made the call
For help to come immediately.
For you to have another chance for salvation,
To God I made my plea.

I am the one God placed in your life
And I’ve seen you at random times.
I’ve often wondered “why me, God?
Their life is different than mine.”

You see, I am the one that God has chosen,
Though I am mortal man,
To trust enough to pray for you,
Because SALVATION is HIS plan.

Momma’s Hands

These were the hands that rocked me gently

And kept me safe from harm

They gently guided me through life

And sheltered me in the storm

They worked for years to carry the weight

Of what should have been carried by two

They didn’t question the road they went down

They just did what they had to do

They guided my steps through a narrow path

They taught me the way I should go

They planted seeds beyond my reach

And left them for me to sow

I learned John 3:16 before I could read

And to treat others with kindness and care

I knew if I had something you needed

It was left up to me to share

These hands weren’t created for idle work

They were created to show me the way

Though I never knew when these hands grew

They’d wave goodbye someday

As they folded in prayer at an old kitchen chair

Streaks of tears stained a table

For the promise of God was impressed in her heart

And with Him she knew she was able

When A Mother Prays

When a mother starts praying
You better step aside
Heaven’s gates will open and
Angels will sing inside

There’s no greater power
Than a mother on her knees
God sees her tears
He will answer her pleas

A child in need of prayer
Is God’s biggest concern
And offering up a prayer
Should be the first lesson we learn

It’s not His desire
To turn us away
He says seek me early
You’ll find me when you pray

A troubled child
Who has gone astray
Will find His way back
And thank you someday

A sick child waiting
For a miracle healing
Will covet your prayers through
The path they’ve been living

What other power
Do you hold in your hands
Anything short of prayer
Simply won’t stand

So fall on your knees
For the sake of your child
Your greatest reward
Will be their smile

You’re holding a gift
Clasped tight in your hand
God gave it to you
Now follow His plan
